Veteran's Day

If you do not have a Veteran to be thankful for, be thankful for mine.

My sister, Kristy Swofford, serves in the United State Army in Afghanistan. This is her second tour in five years, her fourth overall. She bleeds Army green. Her love of it - never ceases to amaze me. From the ice cold shower stories to her 10 mile runs in the mornings - she is Army proud - regardless.

I am thankful for her every day, but today; I am reminded that she is not only my sister, but a United States Army Sergeant Major serving in a war, and that she has given tirelessly of herself for her country for just over 16 years.

Today, she is not only my sister, but also my hero for giving of herself so that I can raise my children and own property in a country that still believes in freedom.

(So my Dear Sister,) Thank you - with all of my heart and all of my love - thank you.

Your big sister,

Sharra

Ps. You tell all your kids that Auntie Sharra said "Thank you" too... I know you do not serve alone, I know that you lead them by example and my heart is always with you and ALL of your "kids". But take it easy on them some days... they can't all run as fast as you or as far as you... but you keep them tough and strong and alive. I love you and I love you for loving them and your job. You will always be my hero.
